Homeland Security sources confirm Aurora video shows Venezuelan gang members
DENVER (KDVR) — The people seen on video carrying guns and entering apartments at an Aurora complex are members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, Department of Homeland Security sources confirmed to NewsNation.
FOX31 obtained video from the apartment complex. In the footage, a group of men carrying firearms make their way up a stairwell and gather around an apartment door before entering. The video was taken just before a shootout occurred in the parking lot of the complex.
Other footage captured shows three separate groups forcing an apartment door open and making their way in.
The city of Aurora issued a statement Friday, in the wake of national attention following the video’s release.
The statement said, in part, “Yes, we are concerned that there is a small Tren de Aragua (TdA) presence in Aurora and we have been taking it seriously. We have responded. We have made arrests. We will continue to make arrests. We will continue to address the problems that the absentee, out-of-state owners of these properties have allowed to fester unchecked.”
