Hey New Jersey, get ready for some cooler weather, lots of rain and flood watch
Ready for some cooler weather, you're in luck.
New Jersey will get a break from the hot and muggy weather starting tomorrow as a cool air front moves in.
The cool front comes with a catch though — lots of rain!
Lots of rain heading for New Jersey
The tropical moisture associated with Tropical Storm Debby is forecasted to bring heavy rain and potential flash flooding late Tuesday into Wednesday morning. Flash flooding is a concern in urban areas and locations with poor drainage, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a flood watch for 15 of the state's 21 counties including Bergen, Burlington, Camden, Essex, Gloucester, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, Passaic, Salem, Somerset, and Union.

New Jersey counties under flood watch
The flood watch is active from 2 p.m. Tuesday through noon Wednesday in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic and Union counties, and from 5 p.m. Tuesday through 8 a.m. Wednesday in the other counties.
National Weather Service meteorologist Robert Dea said temperatures will be cooler this week due to the significant rainfall. "The week will be below normal, but purely due to significant heavy rains, starting today," he said on Tuesday morning.
Tropical storm Debby is moving slowly and is expected to reach New Jersey sometime on Saturday. On Tuesday morning the storm was leaving Florida and hovering over Georgia.
Heat advisory for Tuesday in New Jersey
A heat advisory has been issued for Tuesday for the entire state until 10 p.m.
The heat index will be around 100 degrees on Tuesday in New Jersey as well as parts of Delaware and Pennsylvania. The heat combined with high humidity may cause heat illness, according to the National Weather Service.
People should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room if possible, stay out of the sun and check up on friends, family and neighbors, advises the National Weather Service.
Stay alert for weather updates and take necessary precautions to ensure your safety during the anticipated heat and heavy rainfall and potential flooding.
