FSU Great Give fundraiser hauled in $1 million in 24 hours: Here's the biggest donations
Florida State University’s 13th annual Great Give surpassed its $1 million goal this year by raising $1,149,569 in 24 hours.
The online fundraising event Wednesday ended at midnight after giving FSU alumni and other individuals the opportunity to support the university through the sparkFSU crowdfunding platform.
With over a million dollars raised, the campaign drew support from 7,242 donors who helped fund more than 100 projects from over 30 FSU colleges and units.
Last year, 5,155 donors contributed to FSU’s Great Give while $1,009,027 was raised, which shows a 40% growth in donors this year and a 14% increase in the amount of money raised compared to 2023, according to the university.
“When the FSU community unites, we bring the Seminole spirit, and there is nothing we can’t achieve,” Sadiki Perry, the FSU Foundation’s assistant director for digital and social giving, said in a release. “Each year, we continue to grow and surpass the previous year’s count of donors and dollars raised.”
The thousands of donors included over 2,400 alumni, over 700 faculty and staff members, over 200 students and over 400 parents — all from 49 states in the nation.
Money raised during the annual day of giving is used for initiatives such as academic projects, programs, scholarships and student activities at the university.
FSU’s College of Music raised the most amount of money this year with a total of $219,459 — especially since its biggest project was on behalf of the Marching Chiefs to send 150-plus members of the band to Dublin, Ireland for the 2024 Aer Lingus College Football Classic between FSU and Georgia Tech on Aug. 24.
