Former Buffalo police officer pleads guilty for shooting 14-year-old in leg
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A retired Buffalo police officer admitted to assault on Tuesday after shooting a 14-year-old last year in the parking lot of Marine Drive Apartments, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Antonio Roman, 67, suspected a group of stealing property from vehicles in the parking lot around 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 8, officials said. He then shot the teen in the leg before the group drove away in a car allegedly reported stolen out of Amherst, according to the district attorney’s office.
An ambulance transported the teen to Oishei Children’s Hospital for surgery.
Roman pleaded guilty to second-degree assault and first-degree reckless endangerment. He remains released on previously posted bail and faces a maximum of seven years in prison when he is sentenced in May.
