First Look Images Netflix's 'Fall Of The House Of Usher'
Horror master Mike Flanagan is adapting Edgar Allan Poe’s The Fall of the House of Usher as his final series for Netflix and we’re finally getting a peak at what it’s going to look like.
Today the streaming juggernaut released the first look images for the limited series that will debut on October 12 — just in time for spooky season!
The cast includes Mark Hamill and a who’s who of horror stars. Mary McDonnell (Scream 4), Willa Fitzgerald (Scream: The TV Series), and Carl Lumbly (Doctor Sleep) will all star in the upcoming series.
Many Flanagan series’ mainstays were also cast, like Carla Gugino, Kate Siegal, Annaabeth Gish, Rahul Kohli, Bruce Greenwood as Roderick Usher, and Henry Thomas, who has been in nearly every film and series Flanagan has made in recent years.
According to the official synopsis, “In this wicked 8-episode limited series based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe, ruthless siblings Roderick and Madeline Usher have built Fortunato Pharmaceuticals into an empire of wealth, privilege and power. But past secrets come to light when the heirs to the Usher dynasty start dying at the hands of a mysterious woman from their youth.”
This new show will mark the fifth mini series Flanagan has created for Netflix as part of their deal with Intrepid Pictures. He’s made the much loved The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor, the critically acclaimed Midnight Mass and the less successful Midnight Society.
The Fall of the House of Usher will be an eight-episode series with Flanagan directing four episodes and Michael Fimognari directing the other four.
While that synopsis does not point to anything explicitly queer, this is a Flanagan joint and he is typically inclusive. Plus we spy with our little eyes a couple of images that seeemlingly point to some queer characters — and possibly romance. Here's hoping we get more great queer relationships in the new series like we did with The Haunting of Bly Manor!
