First lady Jill Biden to come to Waukesha on Sunday to mobilize women voters
WASHINGTON – First lady Jill Biden will travel to Wisconsin on Sunday for a campaign event seeking to mobilize women voters in a state critical to her husband's reelection chances.
The Biden-Harris campaign said the first lady would be in the "Milwaukee area" to meet with women about "what’s at stake for them this election and the pivotal role they will play in reelecting President Biden and Vice President Harris."
The campaign did not specify where Biden will speak, but a notice from the White House Thursday night said the first lady planned to deliver remarks at a "political event" in Waukesha on Sunday.
Her visit will come just three days before Vice President Kamala Harris is set to travel to Madison to highlight the Biden administration's efforts to promote union job growth and apprenticeship programs.
It also marks the latest in a string of visits to Wisconsin from top Biden administration figures and the second to Waukesha County — a traditionally Republican stronghold where Democrats have made progress in recent elections. Harris in Big Bend in January kicked off her nationwide tour focused on abortion access, making clear Democrats will keep the issue front and center heading into the 2024 election.
First Lady Biden last visited Wisconsin on Feb. 16 when she came to Green Bay to tout the Biden administration's investment in youth apprenticeships and its focus on economic growth.
In October, she spent two days in northeastern Wisconsin to promote cancer screenings and meet with members of the Menominee Nation.
