Fire tears through three businesses in downtown Brockton — including Khalil's Kitchen
BROCKTON — A three-alarm fire tore through a series of businesses in downtown Brockton early Thursday morning.
Fire Chief Brian Nardelli said firefighters responded to multiple reports of smoke and fire coming from a building at 880 Main St. just before 1:30 a.m.
The building, which houses Khalil’s Kitchen, Studio Sky Beauty Salon and Garcia Grocery and Tropical is "probably a total loss," Nardelli said.
“There’s a good possibility we’ll have to tear it down. We had multiple roof collapses. It’s probably a total loss,” he said.

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and fire in the attic area of the building and began an aggressive attack at getting the blaze under control, Nardelli said.
According to Nardelli, the main body of the fire was under control in about an hour and a half, but crews will be on scene for another few hours fighting hot spots.
Two occupants, who firefighters believe may have been living in the basement, exited the building uninjured. No other civilian injuries were reported.
One firefighter suffered a leg injury during the blaze and was sent to the hospital, according to Nardelli.
