Fire causes estimated $300K in damage to Bogie’s Tavern
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A small kitchen fire that occurred late Saturday morning caused an estimated total of $300,000 in damage to Bogie’s Tavern on Bailey Avenue, Amherst police announced.
Police received a report of the fire at 11:20 a.m. at 4414 Bailey Ave. Crews had the fire under control just after noon, according to officials. Five different fire companies responded to the scene.
Srdjan Sikirica, a second assistant fire chief of the Eggertsville Hose Company, said the fire started in the fryer and extended to the rest of the kitchen. He reported flames emerging from the doors located at the back of the building.
The fire caused an estimated $150,000 in damage to the business’s structure and another $150,000 to its contents. Sikirica said Bogie’s will have to do some remodeling before reopening.
Bailey Avenue from Lamont Drive to Ruth Drive was shut down for just under two hours due to the fire.
Police said the fire does not appear suspicious in nature and the cause currently remains under investigation.
