Fire causes $250K in damage to vacant home in Amherst
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A fire that broke out Wednesday morning caused an estimated $250,000 in damage to an Amherst home, according to the Amherst Central Fire Alarm Office.
The fire occurred just before 9 a.m. at 414 Longmeadow Road. A passerby saw smoke coming from the roof of the vacant structure. Officials confirmed that the the fire started on the first floor then extended to the second floor of the two and a half story residence.
The fire was deemed under control around 40 minutes later. It caused approximately $200,000 in damage to the structure and $50,000 in damage to the contents.
