FeedMore’s ‘Spread the Love’ drive hoping to collect 10,000 pounds of peanut butter
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Whether it’s creamy or crunchy, alternative nut butters, or mixed with jelly, FeedMore WNY is asking for the community to donate all types of peanut butter, as long as it’s unopened, during their ‘Spread the Love’ drive.
“Hunger is 365 days a year, so we’re spreading the love, you know this is the month of love and we’re oping to call on the compassion and love of our community members through the spread the love peanut butter drive,” said Catherine Shick, the public relations manager of Feedmore WNY. “Peanut butter is packed with protein, it’s something that can be nutritious, its something adults like, children like, everyone seems to like.”
Peanut butter is one of the most requested items throughout the 400 hunger relief programs that Feedmore WNY partners with. Those programs include food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, group homes, after school programs, and more throughout Erie, Niagara, Cattaraugus, and Chautauqua counties.
“We really try to make sure that we’re reaching as many people as possible,” said Shick.
This drive has helped them collect thousands of pounds of peanut butter in year’s past, and this year, they’re hoping to collect around ten thousand pounds.
Donations can be dropped off at their FeedMore WNY warehouse, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Fridays, and 8 a.m. till noon on Saturdays. The warehouse is located at 91 Holt St. in Buffalo.
Online peanut butter donations can be made by clicking here. They’re also encouraging organizations and businesses to hold drives. Contact [email protected] or call (716) 822-2005 for more information.
