Who is the favourite to sing the new James Bond theme tune?
As speculation continues to mount over who could be the next actor to play James Bond – with Aaron Taylor-Johnson emerging as the clear favourite – fans are now wondering who could perform the upcoming Bond theme song.
The coveted gig has seen the likes of Dame Shirley Bassey, Sir Paul McCartney, Tina Turner and more recently, Adele, Sam Smith and Billie Eilish, win several awards for their efforts – with the last three bagging the Academy Award for Best Original Song for ‘Skyfall’, ‘Writing’s on the Wall’ and ‘No Time To Die’ respectively.
For the 26th adventure of the iconic spy, following 2021’s No Time To Die, a music frontrunner has emerged: Dua Lipa.
The British Kosovar singer behind hits like ‘New Rules’, ‘Levitating’ and ‘Houdini’, recently headlined Glastonbury festival and is currently the bookies favourite with 6/4 odds (40% probability) – as per betting site Gambling.com.
The 28-year-old has also been acting of late, with small roles in last year’s Barbie and the spy caper Argylle.
Snapping at Dua’s heels are some familiar faces, like this summer’s chart-topping star Sabrina Carpenter (with 2/1 odds), Lady Gaga (5/2), Taylor Swift (3/1) and Ed Sheeran (7/2).
Other names that have been doing the rounds include SZA, Sir Elton John, RAYE, and Céline Dion, who recently performed for the first time since her stiff-person syndrome diagnosis at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony.
The celebrated Canadian singer has had several film song credits to her name, with ‘My Heart Will Go On’ for the Oscar-winning Titanic, and ‘Ashes’ for Deadpool 2 in 2018.
According to Gambling.com, Dion currently has 6/1 odds.
There are still no confirmed details about the next Bond film, although it was recently revealed that Lana Del Rey had written one of her past songs for a 007 pic – and that it was rejected.
What do you think about Dua Lipa recording the next Bond song? We’re keen on the idea – even if we’re hoping that Dion and RAYE get some (much deserved) love...
