Ex-players attend Kevin Campbell memorial service
A memorial service for former Everton footballer Kevin Campbell, who died in June aged 54, has taken place in Liverpool.
Former players and fans joined Mr Campbell's family at a service at Church of St Luke the Evangelist on Goodison Road in Liverpool.
Mr Campbell died at Manchester Royal Infirmary on 15 June after being admitted a month earlier.
Among those in attendance at the service were Ian Snodin, Graham Stuart, Peter Reid, Ian Woan, Frank Sinclair, Steve Stone, Alan Irvine, Michael Ball, David Unsworth and Francis Jeffers.
In a statement on the club's website an Everton FC representative said: "Kevin's career at Everton Football Club had great historical significance.
"He was immensely proud to be named our first black captain in 2001, and he cherished the derby match winner he scored at the Kop End in 1999, the last winning goal at Anfield by an Everton player for 22 years."
Adding the service was "as much in acknowledgement of Kevin the man, as it is for his playing accomplishments".
Mr Campbell scored 148 goals in 542 appearances in a career involving eight clubs.
He won four major trophies with Arsenal and also played for Leyton Orient, Leicester, Nottingham Forest, Trabzonspor, Cardiff and West Bromwich Albion.
