Erie County SPCA rescues 22 cats from Angola home
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Erie County SPCA rescued 22 cats on Thursday from a home in Angola where they were found living in “devastating conditions,” the shelter announced Friday.
The SPCA said its investigators responded to a call in Angola and discovered the cats living in a home where every surface was covered in feces and urine. Ammonia readings in the house were “so high” that the shelter’s equipment “maxed out,” the post said.
The cats, along with several dead kittens, were found inside of a couch’s shell. The SPCA brought the cats back to its shelter in West Seneca where they received immediate care from the veterinarian team.
“Our dedicated veterinary team is currently assessing their body conditions, overall health, and temperaments,” the SPCA said. “Sadly, many are suffering from flea infestations and skin infections, and almost all are traumatized.”
If you or someone you know is struggling to care for animals, call the SPCA’s investigations department at (716) 875-7360 ext. 214.
