Erie County man admits to assaulting Sheriff’s Office deputy
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — An Akron man admitted to assaulting an Erie County Sheriff’s Office deputy after he allegedly dragged the deputy with his car back in May, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.
Around 4:30 p.m. May 14, Michael Trybuskiewicz, then 41 years old and wanted on an arrest warrant, was driving at the intersection of Route 93 and Route 5 in Newstead. An Erie County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to pull him over, but Trybuskiewicz drove away, dragging the deputy with him, officials said.
The officer was taken to the hospital with injuries to his head, shoulder, elbow and ankle.
Trybuskiewicz pleaded guilty to second-degree assault and remains held without bail. He faces a maximum of seven years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for March 25.
