Don’t blink or you’ll miss it, Hawaii Magic Festival returns

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Master of Ceremonies, Curtis Kam, and Teenage Performer, Landon Espiritu, joined Brittni Friedlander to share all the magical details.

“This year (2024) will introduce an act created just for the show.  Kylie Lahoe (an Iolani Freshman) has been training most of the year on a new version of Okito’s “Sphere” Illusion, which has often
been called “The most Beautiful effect in Magic.”  Magicians who’ve seen rehearsal footage are
Intrigued that Lahoe controls the entire sequence on her own.”

“Sequence director Mike Ching says: “Her style is different from others who’ve done the effect like Doug Henning, David Copperfield, or Lance Burton. She has dance experience (Hula) so that helps, she also has early Magic experience having assisted Landon Espiritu at age 9 (they were a hit on the “Stars of Tomorrow” young Magicians’ showcase in Las Vegas).  Now at 15 years old, she’ll actually carry an act on her own.”

“It’s totally visual and looking better and better, but we’re aware we’re too close to it and It’s getting harder to be objective.  The only thing we can do now is let Kylie work her magic and see what the audience thinks.”

“The Hawaii Magic Festival is a family-friendly public event to promote Magic & the Performing Arts. Produced by the IBM, (International Brotherhood of Magicians, the showcase will feature performers from teenagers to senior citizens. Expect Illusions, Comedy, Prizes and lots of audience participation.  Doors open at 6pm on December 28, where Strolling Magicians will entertain until curtains rise at 7pm at Farrington High School auditorium.  *Best priced tickets online can be found at EventBrite.Com where adults admission is $20, Children $10. for ages 2-12. (Note: ALL remaining seating will be $25. Cash at the door).
