Dartmouth Mall might be getting a Chick-Fil-A. Here's what we know.
DARTMOUTH — A new Chick-fil-A restaurant may be coming to North Dartmouth as the Dartmouth Planning Board considered a proposal on Monday.
If approved, the restaurant would replace the old Sears Auto Center at the Dartmouth Mall Plaza, offering local residents a popular fast-food option.
The proposed Chick-fil-A would include a drive-thru with three lanes for ordering, merging into two lanes for meal pickup. Inside the building would seat 62 and 24 outdoor seasonal seats, with plans for a patio on the left side. The parking area will also be upgraded, with approximately 87 spaces allocated for customers.
To improve the overall aesthetics of the area and manage stormwater, the development team has promised to add significant landscaping. However, the proposal is still under review, and a final decision has not yet been made.
The only Chick-Fil-A, in the South Coast area, is currenltly at 700 William S Canning Blvd in Fall River.
Chick-Fil-A adds antibiotics to its chicken
On Sunday, the restaurant chain announced a change in their chicken sourcing. Starting this spring, Chick-fil-A will be using chicken with antibiotics that are "important to human medicine" if the animal or those around it become sick.
This decision overturns a previous commitment to using only antibiotic-free chicken, which the chain had planned to achieve by 2019.

Chick-fil-A explains that the antibiotics used are not intended for humans. The restaurant chain is still committed to providing the high-quality chicken that customers expect, but this shift will help them maintain a consistent supply, according to an article in USAToday.
The proposed Chick-fil-A in Dartmouth and their new chicken sourcing method are still undergoing reviews and updates. No information yet about when the chain will officially open at the mall.
