Dalton Dari-ette opens for its 67th season
It's time to head to Dalton!
The Dalton Dari-ette is open for business, launching its 67th season Tuesday, with its usual burgers, shakes and fries, along with plenty of ice cream for those cups and cones.
The Dari-ette, at 240 S. Mill St., was built in 1957 by Kenny Zuercher at Routes 30 and 94 in Sugar Creek Township. Much of the operation at the iconic drive-in remains the same as its early days.
A sign proclaiming “We are not fast food. All your food, hot or cold, is prepared to order,” reminds you to stop, relax and enjoy the moment.

Specializing in soft serve ice cream, shakes, cheeseburgers, fries and shredded chicken, the location has been in the Koehler and Davis Families for more than 50 years. Current owner Jeremy Braun continues the family legacy. He purchased the drive-in after working for his wife’s uncle, Dan Davis, for more than a year.
Over the winter, Braun said they replaces the Dari-ette's exhaust hoods and worked to bring the inside of the building up to code. A thorough and complete cleaning ? a "must do" ? also takes place in the offseason.

“Every week,” Braun said on a recent phone call, “we add a third soft serve flavor, and this year we’re starting off with raspberry. We’re looking forward to another year of serving the community.”
