Simone is one of thousands who lost their homes due to the multiple fires raging throughout the Los Angeles area, including the Eaton fire, which is afffecting the Altadena area.
A fire in the Pacific Palisades broke out on Tuesday and, since then, flames have continued to spread through the Los Angeles area, with one fire in the Hollywood Hills, now under control, breaking out Wednesday night and threatening the iconic Hollywood Bowl. The blazes have left at least five people dead.
Club Chalamet is an active fan account on X and Instagram managed by Simone. The account frequently shares news, memes and photos in support of the Complete Unknown star’s career. Club Chalamet has garnered attention within the fan community due to Simone’s vehement loyalty to the actor, including her attendance at the L.A. premiere of Wonka, where Chalamet personally greeted her.
Days before the L.A. wildfires broke out, the creator championed the A Complete Unknown actor ahead of his forthcoming attendance at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards which were postponed due to the fires.
Simone shared a note to the Club Chalamet X account on Saturday thanking those who had reached out to her in the wake of her losing her home.
“I have been in a fog of confusion, I have been scared about what to do next, and I have been exhausted from not sleeping well, all between shedding tears,” she wrote. “Each passing day I get a bit stronger and I’m confident I will move on from this stronger, thanks to friends.”
She also called out the “heavy troll activity” she experienced from people who seemed to take delight in her tragedy.
“These type of people don’t matter to me, they never have, and never will,” she wrote. “It says so much about their character to take joy in learning that someone’s home burned down, not realizing that I wasn’t even the homeowner, and that I risked my life rescuing 5 animals where most people would have left them to die, especially when you have the Altadena sheriff’s department yelling at you through a bullhorn to evacuate NOW! To those of you who have sent me private messages laughing at me, wishing I had died in the fire too, or that you’re drinking champagne at my misery, or that it’s my ‘karma,’ just know that I know what you are and you do not matter to me. I read some of these messages, deleted and blocked them, and it doesn’t hurt me because, again, I know what you are. You are heartless and evil, and you’re the type of people who would loot the ashes of the homes to find scraps.”
She shared she wasn’t setting up a GoFundMe because she has renter’s insurance and will get a small grant from her employer.
“For me, I think during this tragedy, the GFM accounts are more for people who not only lost everything, but have no friends, family to support them, or they did not have an active homeowners/renters insurance to help them rebuild,” she wrote.
She indicated she’d continue to support Chalamet and shared her support for others who’d been affected by the tragedy.
As of Thursday, more than 4,000 structures had been destroyed in the Eaton Fire, with thousands more burned in the Pacific Palisades community.
Dutch Merrick, a veteran Hollywood prop master and armorer, attempted to save his home amid the Eaton fire on Tuesday night before he had to flee Wednesday morning. Still reeling from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the actors and writers strikes in 2023 and the impact of said strikes, Merrick was devastated by the disaster that likely destroyed his home. “I keep reinventing myself. And this just kicked me right in the gut,” he said.
Many Hollywood stars have lost their homes due to the harrowing wildfires, including Mandy Moore, Anna Faris, Paris Hilton, Bozoma Saint John, Billy Crystal and Diane Warren, among others.
