These Coveted Buffalo Trace Whiskeys Are Heading to Auction to Aid Hurricane Relief
The two recent hurricanes, Milton and Helene, devastated large swaths of the Southeast U.S. last month. First, Helene swept through North Carolina, causing more than 200 deaths in the region and catastrophic flooding resulting in more than $50 billion in damages. Then Milton arrived in Florida, claiming more than 20 lives and leaving more than three million people without power. To help the affected regions recover, Sazerac has partnered with Block Bar to put together an auction of some of the company’s most coveted bottles of bourbon, rye, scotch, and Irish whiskeys. We have the details of what you can purchase, and how to do so.
The whiskeys are being made available either as individual bottles or sets, with some of the top names from Buffalo Trace, A. Smith Bowman, Barton 1792, and The Last Drop Distillers in the mix. There are four individual bottles that will be available to bid on: Double Eagle Very Rare Kentucky Straight Bourbon, the Last Drop Release 28: Drew Mayville Signature Blend of Kentucky Straight Whiskeys, the Last Drop Release 32: Louise McGuane 32-Year-Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey, and the Last Drop Release 33: 15th Anniversary 40-Year-Old Blended Scotch Whisky. The are also six sets that contain some unicorn whiskeys that are normally pretty hard to get your hands on. There is an entire Buffalo Trace Antique Collection; a set that includes two bottles of Blanton’s (Gold and Straight From the Barrel) and two Stagg bourbons (George T. Stagg and Stagg); all six of the W.L. Weller core expressions; all six of the core E.H. Taylor, Jr. expressions; all six of the core 1792 Bourbon expressions; and the first three of the ultra high-proof A. Smith Bowman Cask Strength bourbons.

“Our goal is to help aid the Hurricanes Milton and Helene recovery efforts in cities and states most impacted by the storms,” said Jake Wenz, president and CEO of Sazerac, in a statement. “Every dollar raised will go directly to those in need.”
According to Sazerac PR, the auction will run as “no reserve” with the starting bid for each bottle or collection beginning at $100 in an attempt to get as many people as possible to bid. The auction went live on October 24 and will run until 10 AM Eastern on November 1, with all proceeds going to benefit the American Red Cross. If you’re interested in rare whiskey and supporting a good cause, visit the BlockBar auction website to register and place your bid. It looks like the prices are already going up, which means these bottles will sell for quite a lot—and ultimately that’s a good thing for the victims of these two hurricanes.
