S Club to release new music for the first time in 20 years this week in tribute to Paul Cattermole
S Club are set to release their first single in two decades in tribute to their late bandmate, Paul Cattermole. Back in February, the iconic pop group announced that they were hitting the road for a reunion tour to mark their 25th anniversary, with all seven original members booked for the shows. The tour would have been the first time the band had performed together since 2015, when they briefly reunited.
However, in April this year, Cattermole tragically passed away from natural causes. Following his death, fellow member Hannah Spearritt - who previously dated Cattermole during the height of their success - revealed that she would not be taking part in the tour.
The five remaining members - Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O’Meara and Rachel Stevens - recently addressed this in an emotional video to fans, where they also announced that they would be renaming the tour in honour of their late band member. During the footage, Lee said: "It's going to be our tribute to Paul, so we are actually renaming the tour 'The Good Times Tour,' which is the song that Paul was going to sing."
In terms of S Club's new music - which hardcore fans found out about today - the band's new single, 'These Are The Days,' is set for release on Wednesday 26 July. It was written by the band's original songwriting team (Cathy Dennis, Simon Ellis, Johanne Ellis and producer John Nathaniel), and pays tribute to S Club's "former friend" and "beloved" bandmate Cattermole.
Alongside the touching track, fans can also expect a "moving film story that ends with S Club revealed as the five-piece pop act that they are today."
The S Club UK and Ireland reunion tour will begin in October this year.
