Clean up of Silver Lake continues after major storm
SILVER LAKE (KSNT) – The Silver Lake community is still cleaning up after a major storm rolled through the area in the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 26.
The storm impacted many communities, and caused lots of tree damage. Large chunks are still a problem for many residents in the area. Many homes have at least some form of tree damage.

KSNT 27 News spoke to a local tree trimmer today who said the last couple of days have been a lot to take in.
“We’re overwhelmed with everything that’s happened with the recent storm,” said Derek Dixon of Topeka Tree Experts. “The storm was quite unexpected for the people of Silver Lake. I talked to a customer we dealt with today and he said this is the worst it’s been in a long time.”
Dixon also said that many people are unaware of potential tree problems they might have until an event like this occurs. He said that proper tree trimming is key to prevent major tree damage before hand.
