Christkindlmarket to skip Wrigleyville in 2024
CHICAGO — The Wrigleyville location of Christkindlmarket, the German-style outdoor market, will not be held this year, officials announced.
Scheduling conflicts are to blame.
“Due to the NHL Winter Classic and additional programming, the Christkindlmarket will not take place in Wrigleyville at Gallagher Way this year. The organizers regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the community’s understanding. They look forward to returning to Lakeview in future years,” a statement on the Christkindlemarket website said.
The markets in Daley Plaza, at 50 West Washington Street, and in Aurora at RiverEdge Park, at 360 North Broadway, in Aurora, are not impacted by the closure. Both are scheduled to be held from November 22 through December 24.
Chicago’s Polar Express train ride canceled for 2024 season
This year will mark the 28th Christkindlmarket in downtown Chicago and the third in Aurora.
The Christkindlemarket.com website says that more than two million people visited the market’s three locations in 2023.
