Chrissy Teigen, John Legend Provide Emotional Home Evacuation Update Amid LA Fires “Hellscape”
As the Los Angeles wildfires raged through various areas of Southern California, countless residents have continued to lose their homes in the devastating natural disaster. Chrissy Teigen provided an emotional update about her situation, as although her family — husband John Legend and their four kids — was one of the many who were able to evacuate to safety, she says her heart breaks for her community.
“I haven’t had the words, it is a hellscape. We are ok as of right now, and I felt weird saying that with so many people we know and don’t know who are not ok. Thank you for reaching out,” she wrote on her story to her 41 million followers.
The Chrissy’s Court star also urged people to share any ways she can help others, writing, “Looking for any and all ways to help our community right now, please send anything you see. And god bless the firefighters and all first responders.” She then shared a photo of her packing a suitcase and said the situation feels “surreal” and she’s “very scared.”
A few hours after the post, Teigan updated fans again with confirmation that she and her family were safe. She uploaded an IG Story of her laying in a hotel bed with the caption, “4 dogs 4 kids and a bearded dragon walk into a hotel,” followed by another brief video of her dogs playfully walking all over her and John.
According to NBC, the Palisades Fire has burned through “more than 17,234 acres, almost 27 square miles. It has destroyed 1,000 structures and is entirely uncontained, making it the most destructive in L.A. history.”
As of publication, the outlet also confirmed the travesty has killed at least five people and forced 100,000 people from their homes. It has left around 350,000 energy customers were without power as of today (Jan. 9), including residents in the most populous county in the country, L.A. County. PEOPLE reports that celebrities like Paris Hilton, Diane Warren, Sandra Lee, and more have lost their homes in the fires.
