Chiefs announce Chad Henne will be drum leader for opener and banner ceremony details

It’ll be a banner night Thursday at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Chiefs will unveil their Super Bowl LVII championship banner before the start of the NFL Kickoff Game against the Lions.

There will be “a short on-field ceremony that concludes with the unveiling of a new championship banner inside the stadium,” the team said. Mitch Holthus will emcee the ceremony, which will include Chiefs Chairman/CEO Clark Hunt.

Pregame entertainment

The Kansas City Boys Choir and Kansas City Girls Choir will sing “Lift Every Voice,” while Natalie Grant will perform the national anthem. The Chiefs said Grant is a five-time Gospel Music Association Female Vocalist of the year.

B-2 Stealth Bombers from the 110th and 393rd Bomb Squadron from Whiteman Air Force Base will do a flyover before the game.

Drum leader

Former Chiefs quarterback Chad Henne, who retired after Super Bowl LVII, will be the drum leader.

Parking

Gates to the Truman Sports Complex will open at 3 p.m.

The cost of parking is $50 for cars and $130 for buses and passes must be purchased in advance on the Chiefs’ website. The team said parking is only for fans with a ticket to the game.

The Chiefs noted “heavy delays are expected due to rush hour traffic on Interstates 435 and 70, as well as streets around the Truman Sports Complex due to the start time of Thursday’s game.”

Rideshare info

The Chiefs said people using Uber, Lyft or another rideshare service should use the Missouri Welcome Center located between Gates 1 and 2 on Blue Ridge Cutoff as the drop-off and pick-up location.
