Cheektowaga man found guilty after yelling racial slurs in Aldi parking lot
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Cheektowaga man was found guilty of disorderly conduct on Monday after he yelled racial slurs toward victims in March 2023, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office announced.
On March 20, Richard Stasiak, 67, used abusive or obscene language toward the victims in the parking lot of an Aldi in Cheektowaga. Officials said he yelled racial slurs toward them.
The incident was recorded on cell phone video. Stasiak was acquitted of the misdemeanor charge and was found guilty of a violation. He was also originally arraigned on one count of second-degree aggravated harassment in March 2023.
Stasiak was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge under the requirement that he continue mental health treatment and write an apology letter to the victims.
An order of protection was issued for the two victims, which remains in effect for the next two years, the district attorney’s office said.
