Burberry selling £230 cycling shorts and people seem to dig them
Ah cycling shorts. The 90s fashion trend we never expected to see gracing our wardrobes ever again.
But thanks to the likes of Kim, Kendall, Kourtney donning the stretchy shorts this summer and really quite rocking it, plus Rita Ora, Bella Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski all getting their lycra on, we’re kinda coming round to them.
And we’re not the only ones.
Fashion power house Burberry has released a pair of logo printed £230 cycling shorts that are proving so popular the brand is struggling to keep up with demand.
According to Glamour, who confirmed the popularity of the bike shorts with Browns Fashion, the e-tailer had to “reorder them almost immediately” after initial stock ran low.
A quick hunt on other fashion sites, such as Net-a-Porter and Burberry’s own website, also reveals certain sizes are all sold out.
Meanwhile Metro revealed that the most popular item on Amazon Prime Day turned out to be Futuro Fashion cycling shorts. The same shorts are also number 46 on Amazon’s list of clothing bestsellers.
If you’re looking for an explanation about the surprising, yet meteoric rise of the cycling short, blame the gram.
Style influencers and the street style set have been busy showcasing the shorts all summer.
I have a love hate relationship with my outfit rn. Thoughts?

Whether they’re teaming them with an oversized shirt or heels and a biker jacket for an out out look, the shorts seem to have bridged the gap between gym gear and high-end design.
Cycling shorts are the latest in a long line of ironic hits. Last year Balenciaga released a £1,600 version of what can only be described as a blue Ikea bag and back in 2016 Christopher Kane’s £300 take on Crocs divided fashion lovers everywhere.
We’re still waiting for our Global Hypercolour T-shirt to get a style reboot.
