Buffalo woman arrested near Highmark Stadium after allegedly striking deputy
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo woman was arrested Sunday near Highmark Stadium after the Bills game for allegedly striking a deputy with her vehicle and endangering numerous pedestrians, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office announced.
Around 6 p.m. at Southwestern Boulevard and Touchdown Drive, deputies were directing traffic and stopped all traffic exiting Touchdown Drive onto Southwestern Boulevard for pedestrians to cross the road.
Officials said deputies saw a vehicle in the left exit lane cut in front of a vehicle in the right exit lane and try to turn onto Southwestern Boulevard.
Deputies contacted the vehicle and the driver, identified as Dominique Tabb, refused commands to stop and then accelerated, striking a deputy, the sheriff’s office said. The vehicle was then stuck in traffic, allowing deputies to catch up with Tabb. Tabb allegedly refused commands to exit the vehicle and resisted arrest.
“This was an extremely dangerous situation, and I am relieved that nobody was seriously
injured,” said Erie County Sheriff John Garcia. “We have zero tolerance for this type of behavior.”
The deputy that was struck completed his shift, officials said.
Tabb was taken into custody and charged with the following:
second-degree reckless endangerment
resisting arrest
obstruction of governmental administration
reckless driving
aggravated unlicensed operation (revoked)
numerous vehicle and traffic law violations
She was processed and released on an appearance ticket.
