Buffalo woman, 62, killed by alleged drunk driver
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 62-year-old woman was struck and killed in the City of Buffalo on Thursday night by an alleged drunk driver, the Buffalo Police Department announced.
Niyonna Cunningham, 23, of Buffalo has been charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter and two counts of driving while intoxicated.
Around 10 p.m., officers responded to an accident at Genesee Street and Bailey Avenue and allegedly found a pedestrian in the road. The victim was taken to ECMC, where she was pronounced dead.
After allegedly failing field sobriety tests, Cunningham was placed into custody. A 1-year-old was in Cunningham’s vehicle at the time of the accident, police said.
The victim’s name has not yet been announced.
