Buffalo man sentenced for fatal University Heights shooting
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man was sentenced to 20 years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision on Thursday for a fatal shooting in the city’s University Heights neighborhood, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office said.
Michael A. Barnes, 37, shot Thomas Davis, 28, with an illegal gun on the 3100 block of Main Street near Winspear Avenue in the early morning hours on Sept. 12, 2023. Barnes had previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
Barnes was initially charged with second-degree murder after being arrested in Sept. 2023.
