Buffalo man sentenced for 2023 fatal stabbing on West Side
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man has been handed a determinate sentence of 16 years in prison for a fatal stabbing on the city’s West Side in 2023, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office said Wednesday.
Timothy Austin, 37, stabbed Tremaine Mayfield, 49, in the chest on Niagara Street on the afternoon of June 11, 2023. Mayfield died at ECMC.
Austin pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree manslaughter in November.
He will also be subject to five years of post-release supervision once he is released from prison.
