BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man was found guilty by a jury of assault Monday afternoon following a shooting that left a victim seriously injured, according to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.
Irving Mitchell, also known as Gotti, 41, who was on parole at the time, shot a 31-year-old man on the 1400 block of East Delavan Avenue around 4 a.m. on July 4, 2024, officials said.
The victim was taken to ECMC where he underwent multiple surgeries for serious injuries to his abdomen. He was hospitalized for almost two weeks.
Mitchell was arrested on July 12 and initially faced four charges including attempted murder. He was found guilty by a jury Monday of first-degree assault and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Mitchell will be sentenced as a second violent felony offender. He faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced April 14.
