Buffalo man admits to recklessly killing 2 in connection with Lyft crash
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man admitted to recklessly killing two people Friday morning after he hit a Lyft and killed the driver and a passenger in March of last year, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Around 12:15 a.m. on March 21, Devin Ford, 24, was driving at a high rate of speed without headlights on when he caused a collision on Main Street and Humboldt Parkway. Nasir Musazada, 27, of Buffalo, was driving three people from Ohio to an event at Riverworks at the time. All five were taken to ECMC.
Musazada and Morgan Ehrenbeit, 26, were pronounced dead at the hospital. One of the other passengers was released after receiving treatment to his spine and ribs and the other remains in a long-term rehab facility for serious injuries. Both are 31-year-old men.
Ford pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree manslaughter, second-degree assault and third-degree assault.
He was previously indicted on additional counts of murder and assault that would have given him maximum 50 years to life in prison. The three counts were dismissed by a judge.
Ford remains held without bail and faces a maximum of 15 years in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced March 25.
