Boy, 13, killed subway surfing in the Bronx: police
THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – A 13-year-old boy was killed while subway surfing in the Bronx on Friday, police said.
The boy died after riding on top of a northbound No. 6 train at the Middletown Road station in Pelham Bay, according to the NYPD.
The 13-year-old suffered multiple injuries, including head trauma, and was pronounced dead around 8:55 a.m., police said.
Earlier Friday, a 15-year-old boy was injured after falling off a northbound No. 6 train at the Morris Ave. station around 1:40 a.m., police said.
The 15-year-old was hospitalized in critical condition, authorities said.
“These incidents are tragic reminders that riding outside of subway cars is extremely dangerous, not a cheap thrill. We continue to mount an information campaign that includes teens speaking to teens about the risks of riding outside subway cars.
