Betty Rae’s Ice Cream opening fourth Kansas City-area location
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One popular Kansas City-area ice cream shop will continue its expansion plans this spring.
Betty Rae’s Ice Cream plans to open a new location in Merriam starting in May 2024, the company said in a news release.

The new shop will be located near Johnson Drive and Antioch Road, in the Merriam Town Center shopping area with Dick’s Sporting Goods, Home Depot and Cinemark.
The new location will also serve as a “Test Kitchen,” allowing customers to provide feedback on flavors that Betty Rae’s is testing and considering for sale. The Merriam shop will rotate test flavors monthly.
Betty Rae’s said the new location will also be home to a new production facility, increasing production abilities by 300% and creating new jobs.
The company also teased the new shop will soon produce a new item for Kansas City-area customers.

It’s all part of the plans new Betty Rae’s owner Matt Shatto, who’s also vice president of Shatto Milk Company, announced when he took over the company earlier this year.
The company just opened its third location in Olathe last year and then started selling its top flavors by the pint at nearly 30 Kansas City-area grocery stores.
Betty Rae’s also has location in the River Market and in Waldo.
