Arson on Deshler Street latest in string of fires in the area
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Arson has been determined as the cause of a fire in the latest of a string of blazes on Deshler Street, Buffalo fire officials said Thursday.
Crews responded to 19 Deshler Street around 3:20 a.m. Thursday. When crews arrived the home was fully engulfed and crews were able to put the fire out.
The property was vacant due to sustaining fire damage in a previous blaze on Sept. 26. There were no injuries.
A nearby home, 23 Deshler, caught fire three times between Sept. 23 and Nov. 17. Thursday marks the eighth fire at a vacant home in a one-mile radius in the past three-plus months.
The damages from Thursday’s fire are estimated at $75,000. The Buffalo Fire Department is urging the public to report any suspicious activity. The fire is still under investigation.
