Amherst man found guilty by jury of fatal shooting in Allentown
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — An Amherst man was found guilty by a jury of murder among other charges Tuesday following a fatal shooting in Allentown in 2023, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office said Wednesday.
Nigel Flint, 29, shot Darnell J. Lynch, Jr., 28, on the 200 block of Allen Street around 4 a.m. on Sept. 16, 2023. Lynch was pronounced dead at the scene.
Surveillance revealed Flint fleeing the area following the shooting. Additionally, a vehicle stopped around 4:15 a.m. was searched and a loaded, illegal handgun determined to be used in the homicide was found.
Flint was found in Michigan on Jan. 29, 2024 and taken into custody. He was returned to Western New York in mid-February.
Flint was found guilty by a jury of one count of second-degree murder and one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison when he is sentenced in April.
Flint remains held without bail.
