Simpson said: "My band mates in both Busted and Fightstar guessed it was me within the first two seconds of hearing Rhino sing. When you spend that much time on stage with people and spend so much time in the studio, it would be very hard for them not to get it pretty much instantly."
He added: "Rhino has its own emoji on most phones, so often I would get people just texting me that which I found really funny."
I'm A Celebrity Special 2022
The 2022 series of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! launched with a special one-episode version of The Masked Singer.
Contestants masked up as jungle creatures and critters, with Vernon Kay crowned the champion as Koala.
His competitors were Alison Hammond as Witchetty Grub, Sinitta as Kangaroo, and Russell Watson as Cockroach.
Season 3 - Natalie Imbruglia as Panda
The judges were shocked to find out that season three's winner Panda was actually former Neighbours actor and popstar Natalie Imbruglia.
She beat Charlotte Church, who most viewers had worked out was Mushroom early in the contest.
Imbruglia said: "I did it for my son. He loves the character I chose. I also thought it would be fun to sing with a mask on, no need to spend hours in hair and make-up. I liked the idea of hiding my identity and putting on an accent to throw people off the scent. I guess it's also an acting gig."
Season 2 - Joss Stone as Sausage
When singer Joss Stone won season two of The Masked Singer, she was pregnant - and hiding her bump inside a Sausage costume.
Stone, who won against Ne-Yo as Badger, said: "Life can be too serious, we should just dress up in chips and sausage and have a sing song.
"This has been the funnest, most hilarious job I have ever had. I have laughed so much."
Season 1 - Nicola Roberts as Queen Bee
The Masked Singer's very first winner was Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts, who won over the crowd as Queen Bee.

Roberts told The Sun: “There were real difficulties with the mask in the first dress rehearsals. I had a balaclava and gloves all the way up my arms then the mask. It was absolutely boiling in the studio, there was no air or ventilation in the mask, so you’re breathing in the air that you’re breathing out. I was gasping throughout the song. I felt like I was a ball of fire.
“I got half way through and I was choking on my breath and I just ran off stage. I could see everyone panicking backstage. I had a claustrophobic moment when I couldn’t get the mask off. I’m not usually claustrophobic but I had a moment of saying to myself, ‘You have to get the mask off me - right now’.”
The Masked Dancer
Season 2 - Heather Morris as Scissors
The second celebrity to win The Masked Dancer was Glee star Heather Morris, who was behind many of the musical TV series' dance routines.
Morris said: "I have had the best time. This has made my heart so full. I feel like a little kid again dancing on stage. My kids at home, I have two boys at home and we are huge Masked fans. My oldest - during the pandemic - would make masks himself. He made a Hippo mask out of cardboard so when I got the call for this I just said 'Of course, I'm going to do this, my kids will be in awe of me!'"
Season 1 - Louis Smith as Carwash
Olympic gymnast and former Strictly Come Dancing winner Louis Smith added to his trophy cabinet when he became the first person to win The Masked Dancer.
Smith said: "This has been the most bonkers show I have ever done, but the most enjoyable thing."
Asked why he wanted to appear on the show, he said: “It goes back to it being a very tough year for everyone.
“I thought if I can get involved and have a bit of fun for myself and put smiles on other people’s faces then I’ve done alright. I’ve had a great time.”
