After the Flood viewers underwhelmed by washout ending
The ITV drama promised the floodgates of truth would open, but offered a damp finale.
What did you miss?
After the Flood's murder mystery finale has left viewers with more questions than answers as they complained about the "very frustrating" ending.
The ITV drama, starring Sophie Rundle as a pregnant police officer searching for the truth behind a man's death who appeared to have drowned in a flood, had left fans keen to discover the last twist, but the ending was a damp squib for many.

What, how, and why?
After the Flood fans who'd been hoping for a satisfying ending to the ITV drama were left feeling the finale was a bit of a wash out.
The murder mystery series followed the aftermath of a town flooded and police officer Joanna (Sophie Rundle) who was determined to find out what had really happened to one local who she didn't believe had drowned during the natural disaster.
Joanna's sense of urgency to discover the truth was heightened by the fact that she was about to go off on maternity leave, and in one dramatic scene during the final episode she gave birth after a car crash with a fleeing Lee (Jonas Armstrong). Lee had just admitted to his part in the man's murder which he was instructed to carry out by dodgy copper Phil Mackie (Nicholas Gleaves).
Later, in the hospital with partner Pat (Matt Stokoe), Joanna believed she'd tied up the loose ends nicely as she confronted Mackie with her baby doing fine after the chaotic birth - but a smug Mackie threatened to destroy her family and their reputations if she told what he'd done.
Pat told Joanna he would support whatever she wanted to do and the final scene cut to them bringing their newborn baby into the police station for a visit, but the series ended as Joanna stood outside her boss's office without showing whether she went in to report Mackie.
Viewers were left unimpressed by the ending as one person commented on X: "Oh flipping heck. Seriously," while someone else added: "Oh you can’t end it like that!"
Others added their disappointment: "Watch it all these weeks for that ending," as someone else agreed: "Well that was s***. All that for nothing," and another wrote: "well that was a waste of 6 hours of my life!"
Another viewer questioning the last scene asked: "So #aftertheflood does Jo dob everyone in ….or ..is she just there to show off the baby…?"
Someone else complained: "I think that was a bit of a lame ending, so many people involved in a cover up and we don't get to find out if they get their comeuppance??"
Did it wrap things up neatly?
Viewers complained that the story was nowhere near wrapped up - and in fact, suspected that After the Flood might be teeing itself up for a return. One person commented: "Ooh, series 2 please!" and another agreed: "Gotta be coming back, right?!"
Fans were keen to see justice served as someone else wrote: "Omg there needs to be another series. Mackie can’t get away with it."
Another viewer commented: "I’m guessing it was left open for a series 2, if so ITV better deliver, because if not it’s a VERY frustrating ending."
After the Flood streams on ITVX.
