The Telegraph dubbed Wen, “the face of the future,” and indeed, she’s the first Asian face of two mega brands: Estée Lauder and Victoria’s Secret.When she entered her first modeling competition, in 2005, Wen just wanted to win the prize—a computer. She got more than she bargained for, moving to New York where she’d conquer the runway and turn into a street style icon thanks to her unique personal style and all-around cool girl attitude. The down-to-earth tomboy tells Yahoo Style, “I don’t feel any pressure at all, actually. I look at everything I have done as affirmations from both "fate” and clients together, so as long as I know I put in my best effort, I’m happy with whatever the eventual result is.”The supermodel’s not nearly done making her mark on the world—both fashion and at large. This May, the Metropolitan Museum of Art will pay homage to the Far East with the Costume Institute’s newest exhibition: China: Through the Looking Glass, which will include the artifacts, ensembles, and films that are representative of the country’s influence on fashion. As is the tradition, the opening will be marked on May 4th with the annual Costume Institute Gala hosted by Vogue, Anna Wintour, and this year, Yahoo. Leading up to the big event, we are celebrating China’s biggest players from the worlds of art, fashion, and business with an ongoing series. Since we are a fashion publication, we are first looking to the nation’s greatest models.
