36-year-old admits to fatal shooting on Lower West Side
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 36-year-old man has pleaded guilty to charges related to a fatal shooting on Buffalo’s Lower West Side last September, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday.
Raymond Torres, who has no permanent address, fatally shot 35-year-old Travis Martin with an illegal gun near 7th and Jersey streets just after 4:20 a.m. on Sept. 19, 2024. Martin was taken to ECMC and pronounced dead.
Torres pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of first-degree manslaughter. He had initially been charged with second-degree murder. He faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced on May 12. As part of the plea agreement, the judge committed to a sentence between 15-20 years. He is being held without bail.
