2 deputies OK after being hit by truck near Highmark Stadium
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Two Erie County Sheriff’s deputies were not injured after they were hit by a truck near Highmark Stadium early Monday, police said.
A man driving a dark-colored GMC Sierra was traveling south on Abbott Road just before 1 a.m. when he was instructed by deputies to turn westbound onto Big Tree Road. Police said the operator, while allegedly showing signs of intoxication, failed to comply and instead bumped one of the deputies with his truck.
It is alleged that he struck the second deputy while fleeing westbound on Big Tree Road.
The deputies were not hurt, but they were checked out by medical personnel as a precaution. The suspect is described as a white male with a beard and has yet to be located.
The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 716-858-2903.
