1 hospitalized following Amherst house fire
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — One person was taken to the hospital after a fire caused an estimated total of $160,000 in damage to a home on Tuesday in Amherst, the Amherst Central Fire Alarm Office announced.
A fire alarm set off a call to Amherst Fire Control just after noon. Fire officials worked to put out the fire after smoke was seen coming from a second-floor bedroom at 172 Maynard Drive. Maynard and neighboring streets were closed off during this time.
An estimated $100,000 in damage were done to the structure while the contents suffered $60,000 worth of damage. One person was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
The fire was said to be under control at 12:47 p.m. The cause is still under investigation.
