Watch Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen Attempt to Tell Fake Country Song Titles from Real Ones
Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen deliver convincing, authentic performances as country music legend Hank Williams and his wife Audrey in the new biopic I Saw the Light. But both quickly own up to not having the deepest knowledge of country music in real life. (Hiddleston grew up in Westminster, London, while Olsen was raised in Sherman Oaks, Calif. — neither exactly hotbeds for honky-tonks.)
Now, it doesn’t take an expert to know country music has the best song titles of any genre (seriously, just see: “You’re The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly” by Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty ); more of a test is to be able to tell the real deal from a ringer. The costars accepted our challenge in a little game called, “Are These Real Country Songs… Or Titles We Just Made Up?”
You can see how they did in the video below — and you’ll see that Hiddleston (Crimson Peak, Marvel’s Avengers films), especially, has a special talent for deciphering a Nashville gem from our BS.
I Saw the Light is now in select theaters.
