Watch Harrison Ford Surprise Some Rabid 'Star Wars' Fans
Harrison Ford has been having a lot of fun in the run-up to his return as Han Solo in the new Star Wars sequel The Force Awakens. But we don’t think we’ve ever seen him quite this delighted about being back in the cockpit.
In the video above, the 73-year-old star surprises a series of unsuspecting Star Wars fans who’ve donated to the previous Star Wars/Omaze charity campaign, and who think they’re just videoconferencing with a couple of Omaze reps. That is, until Ford himself wanders into frame and blows their minds into hyperspace. Among the shocked Skypers: a woman who has a framed black-and-white photo of Chewbacca by her side (“Is that your boyfriend?” Ford asks); a family of five who collectively freak out in their kitchen; and another woman who inexplicably says that Padme is her favorite character (“Who’s your favorite character?” Ford asks for all us.)
The surprise party is all to launch a new Omaze fundraising campaign that will benefit 15 charities selected by director J.J. Abrams and the Force Awakens cast. (Go here to donate and see details on the causes being supported.) For every $10 participants give, they’ll be entered for a chance to win the grand prize. This time, there’ll be two winners who’ll get four tickets each to the Force Awakens premiere in London or Los Angeles where they’ll walk the red carpet, meet the cast, and attend the after-party. And perhaps, as Ford promises the Chewie lover, “I’ll arrange to have a special introduction to the hairy guy.” The campaign ends on Dec. 4.
The Force Awakens hits theaters on Dec. 18.
