Vin Diesel, 'Furious 7' Family Honor Paul Walker in Preview: 'You Get to Say Goodbye to Somebody Very Special'
If you’re a Paul Walker fan, you may want to get your tissues out for this inside look at Furious 7.
Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jordana Brewster help fans gear up for one more ride in Furious 7 as the trio discusses the movie’s action, emotion, and its special sendoff to co-star Paul Walker, who died in a 2013 crash halfway through filming.
Diesel argues the stunts are even more outrageous than they were in Fast & Furious 6, but he also acknowledges more moving moments. “What’s really been taken to the next level is the emotional integrity of the film,” he says, later adding that Furious 7 "in many ways represents the whole saga."
At the 1:47 mark the cast explains how the upcoming sequel also operates as a tribute to the late Walker. Says Rodriguez, “This one’s special because it’s a legacy… You get to say goodbye to somebody very, very special. I think all the fans are going to feel good that there’s a respect there.”
Diesel then promises the sense of family cultivated in the 14-year-old series “bleeds off screen” so moviegoer can feel like they’re a part of the Walker’s farewell.
Last week, Diesel held back tears as he paid tribute to his late friend and co-star at an early fan screening of the highly anticipated action sequel. “This was a labor of love, and in some ways hardest movie I’ve ever had to do, because the relationships that you see on film are so real,” said the 47-year-old star in a Los Angeles movie theater. “When the tragedy happened, I lost my best friend. I lost my brother.”
Furious 7 revs up in theaters April 3.
