The ‘Batman v Superman’ Cast on What Happens to Superman (Spoilers!)
This video and article contain spoilers.
It may come as a surprise to some when Superman is impaled by Doomsday at the end of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. But to some, including Superman himself, Henry Cavill, it is right on par with the comics, and that’s something he really appreciates.
“The comic book was fantastic, and I think that was a poignant moment in comic book history,” Cavill told Yahoo Movies.
Ben Affleck, who played Batman in the film, said he thought the storyline fit well into one of the main themes of the movies.
“One of the themes is, ‘How far is it OK to go, preventatively, to stop someone who you think might be a threat to you in the future?’” Affleck said. “And I think the more you go down that road, the darker it gets.”
Amy Adams said her character, Lois Lane, would find a world without Superman to be “a pretty faithless world, pretty hopeless.”
Considering Superman’s iconic status, especially in the eyes of children, we asked Cavill what his message is to the little boy or girl who just finished watching the film.
“Superman lives in all of us, and it’s the example he sets,” Cavill said. “And he never goes anywhere as long as we believe in him.”
Well said.
