Watch a Quick History of the New York Film Festival
You might have noticed that we’re more than a little excited about this year’s New York Film Festival, and with good reason: The 52nd installment of the renowned movie festival — which runs through Oct. 12 – not only features the debuts of such hotly anticipated films as Gone Girl and Inherent Vice, but also includes new works by acclaimed directors like David Cronenberg (Map to the Stars), Debra Granik (Stray Dog), and Jean-Luc Godard (Goodbye to Language).
To give you a sense of NYFF’s vaunted history, The Yahoo Movie Show collected some of the highlights of the fest’s past five decades, including historic premieres, famous faces, and future Oscar contenders.
