Doctor Strange’s theatrical arrival is imminent, but there’s still no upcoming Marvel movie more eagerly awaited than Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. While footage from the film has been non-existent so far (outside of some still-unreleased San Diego Comic-Con clips), that’s all about to change, as evidenced by a deluge of new promos today, and a promise from director James Gunn (see the tweet below) that a full trailer is on its way.
So the 1st #GotGVol2 trailer is coming soon; in the meantime we put together this special sneak peak for you. https://t.co/DUadohMNR7

The trailer tease (watch it above) features the first action from the film, including glimpses of Gamora wielding an enormous blade, Rocket paired up with Yondu and then blasting a hole in a wall with Baby Groot on his shoulder, and Drax explaining to Star-Lord the two types of people in the universe (those who dance and those who don’t) and then giving him a big (unwanted) hug. The sneak peek provides no plot details, but it does suggest that the romantic tension between Star-Lord and Gamora will be one focus of the story. And though it doesn’t feature either Kurt Russell or Sylvester Stallone — both of whom popped up in the San Diego Comic-Con sizzle reel — it does prove that the franchise’s sense of oddball humor is fully intact.
As if that weren’t enough, the film also unveiled its new poster — boasting a black-and-white shot of the film’s main characters leaning against a wall in too-cool-for-the-galaxy poses.

And in case you missed him in the above shot, Gunn also tweeted out a close-up of Star Lord’s leg in order to make sure fans saw that, yes, Baby Groot is coming along for the intergalactic ride.

While buzz persists about a full Guardians 2 trailer debuting with Doctor Strange, fans will have to content themselves for now with the goodies above. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Glenn Close, Kurt Russell, and Sylvester Stallone; it hits theaters on May 5, 2017.
