Yeohlee RTW Spring 2024
“I spent a lot of time thinking about shapes and form, and drapability of the materials that I’m working with in the different weights and textures they come in. The color story is also very pale,” said Yeohlee Teng during a preview of her spring collection. A majority of the lineup was rendered in white, ivory, black and light blue, but there was also an unexpected, nice shock of red in the form of a circular yoke vest, worn with flared black gabardine pants.
Known for her mathematical approach to silhouettes with precise cuts, Teng infused more fluidity into her lineup, best seen through rainproof coats, like a great cream full-circle riding jacket worn over a perforated cotton jersey “biscuit” crew-neck and off-white slim gabardine pants with circular hems, or a translucent coated basketweave zip-front jacket.

Teng said she first started by adding a circular collar to a striped gabardine top, then “evolved the shapes, with circles getting bigger and bigger,” resulting in her full black gabardine circle skirt with off-white slim spheres added to its edges for wrapability and volume.
The designer continued to nicely juxtapose geometric shapes — circles, triangles, rectangles, squares — with an expanded offering of polished, light blue Italian denim layers, like a cylindrical day dress with circle hem or a fitted skirt with a deep, diamond-shaped pocket. In the words of Teng, “user-friendly clothes that respect both form and function.”
