Yara Shahidi and Chl?e Bailey Talk Dating Men with Gender-Fluid Fashion Sense
Grown-ish is back for the second half of season 4, and Zoey's college experience is almost coming to an end when she graduates. The Freeform show has a star-studded cast, from Yara Shahidi and Francia Raisa to Chl?e and Halle Bailey. Grown-ish follows Yara's character, Zoey, as she navigates college life with her friends. One thing the show gets right is accurately depicting the inclusivity and self-expression of Gen Z — especially through their hair and wardrobe. One of the heterosexual male characters, Des, is a junior on the track team who explores gender fluidity through his outfits.
In a recent interview with HelloBeautiful, Yara and Chl?e dished on how they feel about dating a man who wears traditionally feminine styles, like dresses.
"You know, I think it just depends on the person. My first thought is 'I don't know, it depends.' I don’t want to have to be competing with my man, however, it just depends," Chl?e told the outlet.
Yara echoed Chl?e's sentiment when she jokingly chimed in, "Is the dress stylish? I mean, if he comes with a serious style, then yeah, of course. I think it really depends on the person and if it's a reflection of your identity and you align with that identity, then [that's] beautiful."
Well, you heard it here, folks. It doesn't matter what you wear, as long as it's stylish, you may have a chance with Yara or Chl?e. New episodes of Grown-ish air on Freeform every Thursday at 10 p.m. EST.
